May Allure Beauty Box Review

Another month! I’ve been having a great May. We had birthdays, a wedding shower, and Mother’s Day. We have been totally covered in love and happiness and great weather. It’s 86 outside! It’s finally spring! Anyway, I was doing some outside stuff under the watchful eye of the dog when this month’s Allure box rolled in!

Inside my Box

The first item in the box was the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream ($5.60). Laneige is one of the KBeauty brands that I have tried and loved regularly. The lip sleeping mask is one of my aboslute staples for every night, and I’m excited to be trying more from them. It has a true cream consistency, rather than a gel, and makes my skin feel amazing. It also has a gentle scent that reminds me of a fancy spa. I’ll definitely be using this up! The other skincare item is Lue by Jean Seo Erase, Cleansing, Exfolating & Birghtening Powder ($15, full size!). I have tried these before, where you add water to the powder and rub it on your face. I am personally not a fan. It’s just another extra thing that I’d really prefer not to do. I used it a couple times, and while I don’t hate it, I won’t ever think that it’s a good use of my time or money.

The box also had a couple of unusual items. First was the St. Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Gel with Mitt ($5.28). I have not had much luck with self-tanner. It is not a skill that I currently have, nor is it one I want to sit through streaky orange days to figure it out. I will probably use this a few times, when I can guarantee time to scrub it off, just in case. I hear St. Tropez is a good one, but I’m not an expert on this! The other stange-ish item is a couple of Anti-Frizz Sheets from Nunzio Saviano ($2.40) These are for rubbing on frizzy hair to help calm it down. I figure I’ll tuck these into my travel bag and hang on to them for when I need to run somewhere right after getting off a plane.

The color cosmetics…which, let’s be honest…are the best part….are also from brands that Allulre has sampled before. First is the ModelCo Eyelites Metallic Eyeshadow in St. Barts ($12, full size!). This is a bronze-champagne color that goes on as a liquid and dries down into a sturdy, shiny eye color. It really does not budge. It’s a very predicatable color, that I’m sure most people already have somewhere, but the formla is unique and surprisingly really nice! The other item is the Laritzy Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Vibe ($20). I don’t wear a ton of lipglosses, but I might make an exception for this one. It’s a delicate warm peach, but it’s so close to nude that it gives you that sexy, “I just look like this.” feeling. It is very unflattering on chapped or dry lips though, so there’s that. I’ll be wearing this one a lot this spring though!

The overall total value of this box is a little less than $60.28. For a box that costs (full price) $15, that’s not bad, but last month’s box had a value of over $90. It’s hard to judge if Allure is worth it when the months can be so up and down. All things in, this is a good value for $15. I am also continually impressed and will get a lot of use out of this box. If you want your own Allure Beauty Box ($10 to start, $15 each month after!) you can sign up here!
