NYX Butter Glosses | Review and Swatches
I had heard great things
about the NYX Butter Glosses but hadn’t had the chance to give them a try.
Everyone is raving about them, and I hate an overhyped product that doesn’t
live up to expectations. Whatever great things you have heard about these, they
are all true.
Buttery soft and silky smooth, our scrumptious new
Butter Lip Gloss tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie—and makes your lips look
downright luscious. Swipe it on alone or over your favorite lipstick for creamy
sheer to medium coverage that melts onto your lips and is never sticky.
These are great, and they’re
affordable. Like a lot of NYX products, these are rather inexpensive. I saw
these on for $5 at drugstores in my area, and that was at full price.
These glide on like butter,
just like the name suggests. They’re so smooth and never get sticky. I am just
smitten with these. They smell like vanilla but don’t have a taste as far as I
can tell. They’re so comfortable that you really have to try one to know what
you’re missing. One of the main concerns that some of you may have though is
that the primary ingredient that makes these so very creamy is mineral oil. If
you prefer to avoid that, these are unfortunately not for you.
The color payoff is pretty
average. They aren't opaque, but can be applied in layers to build up some color. The packaging on these would make you think that
they were really bold and scary, but they’re actually very wearable even in the
brightest colors. This makes them great on their own, or on top of a lipstick
or stain. Dry lips? No problem. These do
not stick to dry patches and make your lips look fantastic.
They are a gloss, so don’t
expect any brilliance in the wear-time department. I get about three hours out
of them before I need to reapply, if I don’t eat anything.
