October Favorites

It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve done a favorites…and I feel like that every time I do one. I’ve been trying out a lot of new things over the past few weeks, especially after working to downsize and declutter my collection (still working on that). For some reason, a lot of the stuff this month was hair-related, but let’s jump into it.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Waterproof

I’m pretty sure that I’ve talked about my issues with Bioderma et al before on the blog. I am not into the micellar cleanser thing at all. I was surprised to find myself relying on this more and more. I bought my second bottle of this, and it does work. I wet down a cotton pad and my makeup does melt off. I haven’t had any luck with any other brand, but this one is really amazing. I’m not sure what Garnier is doing, but it’s working.

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation

I’ve mentioned this in a recent haul. I have some issues with this…it’s so runny, and the packaging really could be improved my having a pump, but it’s fantastic. The finish is a semi-matte, which brings life into my dry skin. It was also easy to get a color match that worked for me. I’ve been wearing this nearly every day, and it’s been totally amazing. If you have oily skin, this one probably isn’t for you, but they also make a matte and poreless version that might work.

Copper Quik Blow-dry Pro Thermal Round Brush

I recently got a haircut. My long-time hair stylist moved to Texas, and I’ve been floating from bad salon to bad salon, but I’ve finally found someone who I think I can be with for the long-term. She helped point out some problems that I was having, and how to fix them. One thing she suggested was to stop straightening my bangs and to try blowing them out only. She also suggested picking up a round brush, and suggested this one over the super spendy salon ones. It’s been fantastic. I barely need to straighten, and I think it’s entirely because of this brush. It gets hot, so it distributes the hairdryer heat better than just using the hair dryer. Do recommend.

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat

This was in my first Sephora Play! bag, and it’s the item I’ve gotten the most use out of. As I mentioned in my Sephora Play! review, this is an excellent dupe for Kat Von D Lolita, and it’s surprisingly flattering on my skintone. I was really skeptical, but I get tons of compliments on it. It also does truly stay put.

Invisibobble Hair Ties

Okay. These might get their own post. They are hella expensive. We’re talking $8 for three hair ties. THREE. But I like them. I do. I need you to trust me when I say that these are the best hair ties. Forget about those flat ribbon elastics that are oh-so-popular. No. You need to get a tiny box of these. No kinks, no snags, no problems. I have a lot of hair. It’s coarse, it’s curly, and the tiny Invisibobble can tame it perfectly. If you can get them for cheaper, please do, but it definitely works. Yeah, these are definitely getting their own post.

Hair Oils – Hask and Madam CJ Walker

Going along with my haircut, I’ve been working on washing my hair less. My ends get spectacularly dry, but the top gets oily. These hair oils have been helping fix my dry ends. If I apply them just to the ends, then spraying dry shampoo onto the roots extends my hair another day (or two...or five…). Both of these smell great, and they work about the same. Hask is a more budget-friendly option, but I prefer Madam CJ Walker for the scent.

Real Techniques Contour Brush

As the weather gets cooler, I’m less interested in a golden bronzer glow, and more about that chiselled cheekbone life. I have been loving this brush because it holds a ton of product, and fits perfectly in the hollows of my face. I love using this to do a super sharp line of cheekbones. It’s also fantastic for powder highlights.

Annnnnd that’s what I’m loving right now! What are your favorites this month? Leave them down below!
