Summer Bucket List

I live in Northern Minnesota, where summer is a magical fleeting thing. We spend so much of the year crushed under the weight of winter, so when summer arrives, it's like seeing the sun for the first time every time. Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or just some good old-fashioned fun this summer, there are plenty of activities to add to your summer bucket list. Here are a few ideas on my list to get you started:

1. Visit a local winery.

It may sound bonkers, but my area does have a few local wineries! It's a great way to learn about the history and production of wine and sample some delicious varieties. It's a perfect activity for a warm summer day with friends or family. And if the wineries here are different from my liking, I might appear in Napa in a few weeks.

2. Try a new hike.

Summer is the time to get outside and try new things. There are so many gorgeous hiking trails that I haven't tried in the four years I've lived here. It's a great way to challenge yourself and have fun at the same time. I'm just off the Superior Hiking Trail, so I'm sure some of that is in my future.

3. Attend a concert.

Summer is synonymous with music festivals to me. Whether you're into rock, country, or pop, there's sure to be a festival that suits your tastes. I hope to grab some friends, pack a picnic, and enjoy a day of music and sunshine outside.

4. Take a road trip.

Let's load up the car and hit the open road. A road trip is a perfect way to explore new places and make memories that will last a lifetime. Consider mapping a route with scenic drives, historical sites, and quirky roadside attractions. I plan to check off some National Parks Sites this summer and have a list. Let's see how many I can knock off!

5. Have a beach day.

Believe it or not, Duluth has a pretty okay beach -- really! There's nothing quite like a day at the beach. Pack a cooler full of snacks and drinks, bring a good book, and soak up the sun. Remember the sunscreen!

That's what's on my summer bucket list, and I hope I gave you a few ideas too! The possibilities are endless, so get out there and make the most of the season! And remember, if you're indulging in the sun, always drink responsibly and have a designated driver if needed. Happy summer!
