News From Home

in the middle of midterms right now, and they’re really kicking me around. It’s been kind of a downer of a time. Between work and school and volunteering, it’s been very overwhelming for me. Hence my absence :P

Also, my parents are trying to orchestrate a move to a new city. It doesn’t affect me that much because I don’t live at home, but it is a change for all of us. We’re actually moving back to the same town I grew up in down in the US. It wasn’t planned, but one of my parents got this job that we simply couldn’t refuse. Never fear though, I’ve definitely got to finish out my degree at this university, so I’ll be in Canada for at least another year and a half before I have to pick somewhere new to go.

So, needless to say, it's dang stressful. I don’t live at home, but my mom still definitely feels like I’m her responsibility when I’m feeling particularly down. So a few days ago, completely out of the blue, I got a package from my mom.

I thought I’d share the things that I got in my care package from home. Some of the stuff is pretty neat. J
First, everything was packed up in this Bacon Lunchbox. I don’t eat bacon, so I’m sure that my mother found this sadistically hilarious. I still think it’s cute. I collect metal lunchboxes, and this will be an excellent addition. It’s sitting on my desk right now :)

Opening it up, there was a nice letter from my mom, as well as some newspaper clippings of some things she thought I’d like. Pictures of my old elementary school principal, scientific articles, that sort of thing.

Underneath that was a smorgasbord of candies. There’s a spot close to where I used to live, called the Montana Candy Emporium. They sell all the old fashioned candies that you can’t find anywhere else now that are my favourite. They are just better than anything you can buy at the convenience store now.

There was one thing in the box that I was not so sure about, and this is where the grossometer hits maximum.  Mom sent me a pack of Mexican Spice flavoured...bugs. Little grubs actually. And I can't not eat them! It's like a challenge! So yes. I ate one. JUST one. So did Odessa. It actually didn't taste bad. It didn't taste like anything to be honest. The texture was gross though. Kind of...gritty. Anyway. Ew.

The things my mother does.

I hope that you guys are having a great week, and that those of you who are students are fairing a little better than I!
