BarkBox March 2015

You guys know that I love my subscription boxes, so it seemed only fitting that Biscuit got to share in the action. Presenting BarkBox, the subscription box for your dog. This is the first one I’ve gotten. It costs around the $25 mark, and shipping isn’t free, but I spend a ton on dog stuff. Dog toys and treats are expensive, so I figured that a box of treats would probably be cheaper than what I usually spend on Biscuit anyway.

When you sign up, you tell them how big your dog is, and then you get five items including treats and toys that are suited for your beloved dog. For reference, I picked medium for Biscuit, because she’s still under 50 pounds, although she won’t be for long.

This month’s box was themed around Island Paradise. I also love that you can text to reorder things you like, which we might just have to do for a few things.

Harry Barker Fetch Canvas Bone

How fetching! Made of cotton canvas backed by berber fleece, this stylish stuffed bone is filled with eco-friendly fiberfill made from recycled bottles.

$10

This has not one, but two squeaky things inside. Biscuit loves her squeaky toys, and this she loves this. It also looks super classy and is great for the environment. Win all around. This one didn’t really fit the theme though, but that’s okay because she loves it so much.

Grandma Bowser’s Mai Tai Mango Biscuits

Barktender, another round of biscuits! Baked in Pennsylvania with fresh ingredients with no artificial flavorings, preservatives, or added sugar.

$6

The general rule of thumb is that the worse it smells, the more Biscuit loves it. These smell so bad but she is all about them! I like that they’re all natural, but to be honest, trying to keep the dog on a strict “all natural” diet is ridiculous when she’ll eat just about anything. These are mostly bran-ish little cookie things, and Biscuit likes them. She just got fixed so we’ve been spoiling her so bad. She’s been eating loads of these things.

BarkMade Message in a Bottle

Custom-made with non-toxic TPR, your pup;s very own message in a bottle!

$13

This is Biscuit’s favorite item from the box. It’s a sturdy rubber bottle that squeaks. It also has a little felt “message” inside, but that doesn’t matter much. She loves it. She trots around with this in her mouth and loves using it for fetch or for chewing on by herself. I’m not sure how long it will last, given her past history of tearing toys apart in moments, but we’ll see.

Yeti Corp Golden Nugget

Made from Nepali yak and cow milk, salt, and lime juice. Puff them in the microwave and serve popcorn (after cooling!) or boil 10-15 minutes in water then chop into bits as a food topper.

$8

This baffles me. You have to microwave it (or boil it?) before giving it to your dog. It puffs up like you’re popping popcorn, but it only has three ingredients, two of which are milk. I just have no idea how it works. Biscuit likes it though and is happily munching on them. Be careful to cool it down before you let the puppies loose on these though. It smells really funky, but the dog crunches on it for a few minutes and that’s what counts.

Etta Says! Bison Chew

This protein-packed, American-made bison chew is easily digestible! Absolutely no artificial fillers, coloring, or preservatives.

$3

Biscuit eats a lot of real meat in her diet. She’s not a fussy dog, but we do give her the good stuff. She loved this too. She doesn’t like it as much as her “pizzles” but she seems to be okay with it.

So, the total value of our Barkbox this month was $40. Biscuit likes all of the things, so it’s a total win from my perspective. If you want to try Barkbox (and get a free month) check it out here.
