Off Duty Beauty Skincare Routine

The weekends are my recharge time, not only for my mental batteries, but also my beauty batteries. Saturdays are for my super-duper once-a-week skin recharge.

I start by cleansing and exfoliating my skin. I especially like this one, which is gentle enough for every day, but also can give me an intensely deep clean that scrubs away a week where I was maybe less enthusiastic about my skincare. I feel that a weekly deep exfoliation is one of the best things that I do to keep my skin looking its best.

I follow it up with a hydrating face mask. My Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask is thin enough that I can wear it around the house without feeling like a freak, but is also incredibly hydrating, which is becoming more important as we move into fall and winter.

I then rinse that away, and apply the first step of my moisturizer. Eye cream on the eye area, and an antiaging serum all over the rest of my face. On normal days, I wouldn’t do a serum followed by a moisturizer because I am generally lazy. One or the other is how I roll. But not today. Today I can do both.

After the serum has had a chance to sink in (10 minutes or so), I apply an extra thick layer of moisturizer. It’s about double the amount that I normally put on. I’ve been digging this Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer. I’ve been having a few dark spots (remnants of sad breakouts), and I’ve been trying to fade them. I’m not sure if this has been the tipping point or not, but my dark spots have definitely been looking better.

After all that, I’m done! I try not to wear makeup for the rest of the day after I have completed the whole ritual so as to give my skin even more of a break. Then the week starts over, and I go back to my lazy ways. Thanks, skincare routine, for enabling the regular abuse of my skin.

If you’re interested in trying any of these items, they are all linked above. What is your favorite skincare product? I’m always looking for suggestions!
