Blogmas #9: Gift Guide for Dad

The toughest person to buy gifts for at Christmas is always my dad. He never wants anything, and if he does want  something, he goes and gets it himself. So what do you get the man who has everything? Here some ideas beyond the usual “here, have a tie”.

Whiskey Stones

I have seen these on every men’s gift guide I look at. I was at a party a few months ago and they were using these instead of ice cubes. It was a very fancy party. If you’re a serious scotch drinker, you can really tell the difference. I am not a serious scotch drinker, but could still tell the difference. Your classy drink dad would enjoy them for sure.

Chrome Shaving Kit

There comes a time when every guy needs a fancy shaving kit. This one is about as classy as you can get. The razor is also compatible with Mach 3 blades, so it’s actually functionally.

Aesop Jet Set Kit

This kit from Aesop is great for travel. Aesop is one of my favourite brands. It’s delightful for both men and women, and the scent on this one is not too feminine, so it will still appeal to guys. The kit includes a shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash. The packaging is also very minimalistic, so he won’t be embarrassed to own it.

Beer Making Kit

Making your own beer is all the rage just about everywhere right now. I know that my dad has given it a try. If your dad happens to be the DIY type, maybe give this kit go.

Powerrocks Super Magicstick

What a great name. The new iPhone 5 in particular is hell on batteries. This little guy will charge up your phone while you’re on the go, making it perfect for anyone who has to be away from an outlet for a while. There’s quite a few similar products on the market, and I think they’re all good choices.

Gap Scarf

The subtle stripe in this scarf is not so garish as to be out of place on an older man, but adds a little bit of style. And it’s really bloody cold right now, so everyone needs a scarf.

Books

Dad reads more than anyone else I know. He’s always looking for something new. Here’s three new ones that just came out this year that are sure to be a hit.

Today's advent calendar prize is "That Gal" brightening face primer.

I'm a big fan of Benefit primers. I like their Flawless 15 hour primer as well as the Porefessional. Both of those are excellent, so I'm looking forward to giving this one a try. I'm not sure how much brightening I need, but it can't hurt.

What are you getting your dad for Christmas?
