Makeup by 1D Kits

There’s a new One Direction album out, so it’s time for another round of Makeup by 1D from Markwins! This is part one, and part two will be coming for you shortly.

My general impression about the Makeup by 1D set last time was “better quality than expected” and that rings true once again. It’s fairly obvious that these kits are geared towards an audience a little younger than myself but I don’t think that necessarily counts them out. These were, of course, sent to me to try out, but you’ll always get my honest opinion on things that I receive.

Today I have for you three 1D sets to get you ready for the holiday season. All three have these wonderful brick motif that I love. It doesn’t look cheap, and that’s something that I like.

First up is the Liquilights Glow Gloss collection.

Top to Bottom: Kiss You, Taken, Through the Dark

One of these was included in my last 1D set. These lipglosses glow under UV light, hence the name.

You get three in this little package, in the shades Through the Dark (bright poppy red), Kiss You (tangerine orange), and Taken (hot pink). These are heavy on the glitter, making them a little over the top to be wearing around the office, but probably okay for a party or other night out. With New Year’s coming up, we’ll all be looking for that boost of sparkle. I’d recommend dabbing a little on the center of your lips over a lipstick or lip stain to give you a hint of shine.

The next kit is the Electro Glam Mascara set.

This is a love it or hate product, and it’s not personally to my taste. I think that the best use for this would be to try out some fun-colored highlights in your hair that wash out with water. Unfortunately, I feel like my hair is just too dark for this to work with. I’d say that if were a blonde this would be phenomenal. You get three different shades: Why Don't We Go There (electric blue), Does He Know (hot pink), and Story of my Life (canary yellow). If you do use it on your eyelashes, it would be perfect with a bold colored eyeliner because the effect is extra subtle.

The last item is my personal favorite. The Rock Me Nail kit.

It comes with three nail polishes plus “nail toppings” (some more glitter, plus it's UV reactive for an extra glow!).Of al the items I can see myself using these the most. The wear time is relatively average, but those colors are gorgeous.

The polish colors are Happily (ice blue), Moments (neon pink), and Diana (3D holographic). The glitter comes in Kicks (blue), Not Afraid (pink), and Star (holographic). I love them all. All swatches are two coats

Happily, with and without Kicks

Moments, with and without Not Afraid

Diana, with and without Star.

Be sure to check out their facebook for great offers and news about new upcoming products! All of these kits are available at a retailer near you.

Which of these is your favorite? Would you ever buy celebrity-branded makeup? Male celebrity branded makeup?
